The New York State ELA Regents Exam is a three-hour standardized test that measures high school students' proficiency to gauge their college and career success.
The test covers:
Language: grammar, figurative language, vocabulary, and spelling.
Literature: word choice, literary elements, and author’s purpose
Informational Text: word choice and tone, structure, and author’s point of view.
Writing: three types of academic writing (argumentative, informative, and narrative essays) and the process of writing including brainstorming ideas, drafting, and revising.
